DYNASPACE secures 3.5 million NOK grant

March 1, 2022

Founded in 2018 in Bergen by Hogne Andersen and Mats Heigre, both satellite engineers and space physicists with passion for aquaculture, they created an efficient way to deliver global real-time and historical data to advance data transparency into the aquaculture industry. Through satellite images, Dynaspace collects and analyzes data to provide insights and forecasts on shrimp production to support efficient decision making processes for all stakeholders across the value chain.

Dynaspace’s solution has been successfully deployed in Ecuador allowing customers to access valuable information. Hogne Andersen, CEO of Dynaspace explains “we provide downstream space technology services in an international scalable platform that has the potential to organize information about food production in the same way Google Maps organizes roads.”

About the Innovation Norway grant, Hogne says “we are delighted to start 2022 by receiving this grant. As Innovation Norway, Dynaspace believes in sustainable growth and it connects with our mission to drive the blue revolution by using space technology from Norway. The shrimp industry is rapidly growing, but unfortunately, not sustainable. However, our in-depth data can advance the way that the industry is producing food by getting updated and validated information to make timely and sustainable decisions based on up-to-date and historical data and facts.”

Dynaspace plans to use the grant to speed up the product strategy. “The grant supports our plan to improve how our customers access our data and forecasts to make it accessible for everyone. It is not trivial to be an aquaculture big data processing vanguard, but we believe it’s key for the blue revolution. That’s why we invest in our cloud-based platform that will constantly evolve how we present data intuitively and efficiently”, says Mats Heigre, CTO of Dynaspace.

“Our customers will be able to visualize and access valuable information wherever they want to. This will empower businesses and farmers to unify lifetime experiences and data to make smarter decisions,” Mats adds.

In 2022, Dynaspace will open a new fundraising round and let new key investors join our journey to launch aquaculture into orbit. The company aims to rapidly grow this year and to continue mapping new areas and transforming global shrimp production into a sustainable protein source. Hogne emphasizes “our team seeks key talent in both technology development and commercialization to keep expanding our solutions globally.”
